February 29th - Leap Year

Can you  imagine only having your birthday every four years??  It's true!   It's called leap year.

Leap year is one extra day on the calendar every four years. February 29th!

People that have their birthday on Feb. 29th have to look out for every four years.

 Why on earth does that need to happen?  The calendar is supposed to match the solar year-- in other words the length of the tim  it takes earth to orbit the sun once but things quite that simple. it (actually takes earth 365 days,5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds to complete it's orbit   about 3651/4 days). those extra hours gradually add up so that after years the calendar is out of step by one day adding a day every four years allows the calendar to mach up the solar year again.

Dr. Seuss day

Are you ready for Dr. Seuss day? You better be because it's coming.  I am so exited for Dr. Seuss day because we get green eggs, green ham and banana bread.  I really like banana bread but I do not like green eggs and ham (Sam I Am).  Choice two is beefy nachos if green eggs and ham aren't your favorite.

Don't forget that it is on the Wednesday March 2nd. 

The Read-a-thon

Diary of a Wimpy kid Cabin Fever

When Greg Heffley is back to school but when they go out for recess there is no more playground equipment for them to play and the teachers won't even let them sit down. Then after that happens a storm comes and blocks the Heffley's house. What will Greg do well I think he'll play video games but does he? Well I don't know jet he might or might not. That's what I have read so far and I think that these books are amazing! I really like them and I think if you read this book you will like it so much.  

Thoughtfulness

Have your parents ever said "you're so thoughtful," ? Well I have. Maybe, there are ways you can actually be thoughtful , not just to people you know maybe to people you don't know. 
Some ways you can be thoughtful are by giving something to someone if they don't have enough money for it, help fund raise for something really important. Maybe, you can find a way all by yourself. Sometimes being thoughtful isn't always easy maybe for some people who do it every day, you might be one of those people.

Max is friend with the elf king.

Valentines party

It was a cold day and my mom told my to get ready for the school Valentines party. I was so exited to get my Valentines ready for school, and to give them to my friend. When I got on the bus and went to school I did not go to breakfast because I was so exited to see all of my friend's valentine boxes. Then when I was in the classroom I was so amazed to see the boxes. There were horse boxes, soccer boxes, and even batman boxes. It started at 1:30 p.m. We gave out our Valentines. The best part is to be with friends and family.

The Daddy Daughter Dance

The daddy daughter dance was last Thursday night, it was where you would convince your dad to come and dance with you in the cafeteria of your school and, some people would help with the refreshments. You could also go up on the stage and dance with your dad, maybe your friends if your dad and their dad were tired. You could also get a picture, it is for all grades, well maybe not 5th and higher I don't know. Also there was certain dances you could dance to like, Cupid Shuffle, the YMCA, and something else. The whole night I had fun with my dad. I do it every year!!!!    

school soccer

When we go outside at Shaw we play soccer. I like to play goalie. I am a very good goalie. But the best guys don't play goalie much. 20 minutes of just soccer, it is the best time. I made a world cup save once. I can dive at goalie. So if you thank soccer is not for school think one more time.

The Third grade program

 

Its all most time for the Third grade program. The program will be on Tuesday, February twenty third. Anansi the spider will be the mane actor of the night. Anansi is a very greedy spider. In the play Anansi plays a trick on every one of his friend's ecsept for Little Bush Deer. You should come for the best play ever.

Groundhog's Day

Have you ever wondered how we get early spring? Well that's groundhogs day. Groundhogs day is when a groundhog comes out of its hole and if he see's his shadow he goes back in and we have six more weeks of winter. But if he doesn't we get early spring. But all that is just a myth. We only do it because it's a  fun tradition. And then it happens again and again.

Daddy Daughter Dance

                                               



Have you ever herd of the Shaw Stars Daddy Daughter Dance? It's a great time where you can dance with your dad and eat some great dinner. You walk in with your dad and everybody sees your beautiful dress and you get to see there dress too. The daddy daughter dance starts around six and ends around eight. Hope all of your daughters can go!

Groundhog's Day

Have you ever wondered how we get early spring?  Well that's Groundhog's Day. Groundhog's Day is when a groundhog gets out of his burrow and if he doesn't see his shadow then we get early spring. But if he see's his shadow we get 6 more weeks of winter. Still it is not actually true that happens but it is fun to think about.

Student council

Hello reader from all around. Have you ever done student council. Its really helps you when someone is hurt or when someone really isn't being nice.
