Student council

Hello reader from all around. Have you ever done student council. Its really helps you when someone is hurt or when someone really isn't being nice. So when that comes to your eye you need to stop what you are doing and help them because if you are in that that place when that was you.  Student Council will meet this Thursday at lunchtime in the library. That is all today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Bazaar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday December 15 at 5:00 to 7:00 at Shaw Elementary 4th grade will be hosting our 2nd Christmas Bazaar!!!!!!!! Come shopping for unique Christmas gifts. We will have a huge variety of local businesses and  vendors. 4th grade students will showcase their products that they have been working on in class.We will have free gift wrapping, caroling, even a place to shop for you (no real money required!!!!)

G.O.T.R race in the snow

brr, it was freezing at the G.O.T.R race on Saturday November 21. It was snowing!!! To warm up we danced and wiggled. It was so fun but the only part I didn't like was walking because I wanted to run. But my favorite part was seeing my friend. It was fun.

G.O.T.R 5k

Hey all of you girls stuck in school doing nothing but work. You should try to be in G.O.T.R right now! Girls on the run is an after school activity. We learn lessons and then we RUN! It's the end of our season now. The 5k race starts at 8:00 in the morning on Saturday, Nov. 21st.  We need a buddy runner, you have to run with them. So do you like girls on the run?

G.O.T.R 5K

For some girls at Shaw you may know what G.O.T.R is, its Girls On The Run. The 5k race is at 7:00 ,well we have to get there at 7:00 in the morning, But the race is at 8:00 it is this Saturday, Nov. 21st, THIS SATURDAY. I'm kinda scared, kinda excited, and kinda sad because our season will be over.

Holes

I am reading Holes in the beginning a normal boy gets hit on the head with Clyde Livingston sneakers.Then he runs with them.The cops come around the corner,.The next day he goes to court. Then he goes to camp Green Lake.He has to dig a 5 foot wide and 5 foot deep hole every day.Then he makes friends Armpit, Zero,zigzag,and xray. Then one day he found a tube.He gave it to xray and, then xray got the day off.So the warden made them dig all around xrays hole.Then Zero a kid  made a deal with him.If Stanley teaches him, then zero will dig half of his hole.So they made  a deal. After a while xray found out.Then they got in a fight.Then zero hit their counselor in the head and ran away.The next fours days Stanley went into the water truck and drove it into a hole then he ran away.He found zero under a flipped over boat.Then they went up a mountain that looks like Gods thumb.So they went up there.They found onions and water and,then the water was running out so then they set off to go back to camp.Then they dug out treasure.Then they got lizards on them.They finally stepped out with the chest.Then zero bought investigators to look for his mom.And Stanley got a huge house and Clyde Livingston to come to his house and zero found his mom.This is the book of Holes by Louis Sachar.

Amulet Book 2

My book name is Amulet, book 2, The stonekeeper's curse.

The main characters are, Emily, Miskit, Leon, Navin, Trellis, and Luger.

The setting is Demon's Head Mountain and the city of Kanalis.

The problem is the elves want to kill Emily, and her family and Emily can't control the power of the Amulet.

The solution is that Emily picks the right fruit that will cure her mother, and destroyed Luger with the power of the Amulet.

5th grade G.T. Program

5th grade had an amazing performance today (11/6/14). Mrs. Little always does her best with helping her students act out a great show. The actors always give the audience a feeling that would go along with the play. My favorite out of the two was the first one. It reminded me of the ending of Romeo and Juliet. 

4th grade: Shaw Fundriaser

Shaw Elem. is starting a new fundraiser. We are selling tumblers.  There is even a Shaw tumbler.  All the prizes are super cool! I hope I am one of the people who gets to ride on a limo. Shaw always comes up with the best ideas for fundraisers. I bet one person from each grade is going to get to ride in a limo. If so, I wonder who that person is going to be in my grade?

4th Grade: Hat Day

I love hat day... don't you? We were wearing hats for Red Ribbon Week.  Hats off to being drug free!  I love all the crazy hats. I even saw one of my friends wearing a wig!!! Hat day is a fun privilege. Last year my friend Sophie wore a silly spring hat. I even saw a fake cheese hat. 

4th Grade: Brooklyn as President

Brooklyn is 4th Grade's new president. She did an outstanding job on her speech. She came up with different words to the Old McDonald E-I-E-I-O song. I love how brave she was on the very last note of the song. I bet she will do some great things for this school.

Mrs. Boles 4th Grade Ambasiters



Mrs. Boles' 4th grade class ambasittors are Katheryn and Aidyn. Katheryn and Aidyn are a great choice because Katheryn is super sweet so she can kindly show new people around. Aidyn is tough so he can stand up to bully's.  I wonder who Ms. Boles is going to pick next?

4th Grade: HAT DAY!!!!

Tommie Carnihan is trying to raise money for baby Remington. He is a sick little boy. She is working so hard on raising money for him.  I hope I can do something like that for somebody. Shaw had a Hat Day on Monday and raised almost $300.  Students  brought $1 and were able to wear their hat all day!  Thank you Tommie for showing good character!!

4th grade: Switching Interns

Ms. Bleauer                                        Ms. Gandy

Ms. Bleauer was my intern on the very first day of my fourth grade year. She was very smart. She made things that were hard to understand so much easier to understand. She even had a hand made treat for us on HER last day. Now I have Ms. Gandy. October 20, 2014 was my new intern[Ms. Gandy]'s first day. She brought each and every one of us a starburst taped to a note that said:

Ms. B has moved just up the hall, but don't worry 'cause I think we'll have a ball! Ms. G is here now so it's A-OKAY. I hope you're ready to have a great first day! I know y'all will be such a delight, so here is a treat to start it off right!

As you see Ms. G is super cool, but I miss my old intern too...... Ms. B .

RESEARCH PROJECT

This week, Mrs. Fears' class are making aliens for our research on planets. The aliens have to be made to survive on whatever part of the solar system we are researching. This Friday we will be presenting them to the class and telling them how we made them. This may sound like a silly idea but its a lot of work to plan out how you will make your alien. Some of our class has already turned them in and they look wonderful. However I bet they were really hard to make.

The Ultimate Lock In

Every year we have a different celebration for benchmark, but this year is the best of the best. We are having the ultimate lock in! Some kids will be able to stay all night, but there will also be a late-night pick up. The people who worked really hard during benchmark and during the practices for benchmark got an invitation to the lock-in. There will be many fun activities to do at the lock-in like a lip sinking contest, glow in the dark football, an outdoor movie, a spa room, etc. It is going to be held this Friday after school at 6:15. the late-night pick up will be at 11:00 p.m. Kids that stay up all night will be picked up from 7:00-8:00 a.m.

 

The Ultimate Lock In

Ready for the ultimate lock in? If you are, here are some things that will be there. A spa room for the girls, Games, Star gazing, and etc. Don't forget that the teachers will be there too. Mrs. Fears, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Boles and many other teachers will be there! They will be entering the singing contest that will be there too! Also, girls will sleep in the yellow hall and boys will sleep in the green hall. The blue hall will be the up all night hall. There will plenty there to keep you busy! Some people will be staying all night till 7:00 in the morning or you can leave at 11:00 at night. Don't forget to turn in the forms! And always don't forget to be a star.

Mrs. Fears' Class: Receiving Google Chrome Laptops



This year at Shaw Elementary we have received 60 Google Chrome laptops from a grant that Springdale Public Schools got. With this new technology our 4th and 5th graders are able to use them for research. Eventually, each one of us will get our own laptop to help us thru the rest of elementary all the way thru high school. The Race To The Top Grant made a big difference for Springdale Public Schools. And a big thank you for whoever made this happen!!!! By Emma (4th Grader)

Genre Challenge



This year 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades are having a fun genre challenge. We each have to read and take a test on 50 books! Different genres like horror, humor, and character are included. Every one of us is working very hard! After you read 25 books and have passed all of the tests, your picture will be placed in a car on the map in the hallway by the library. So be sure to look for your picture in a car! Later this year our genre challenge is having a special party for the finishers! But be quick! Time is running out! The challenge is over May, 2nd! In your spare time read, read, read!

Mrs.Jones Class Out in Space

 



Mrs. Jones class is out of this world! During this time Mrs. Jones 4th grade class has been learning about space. Some kids are learning about Planets, Constellations, Space technology, and many other objects in space. At the end of this session we will be making dioromas of the planets with all our facts we gathered. They will be full of information based on what we researched! Discovering all of these secrets, facts, and  mysterious things. Remember we will be making a huge project on what we learned with planets and stars. Don't forget to shine on Shaw stars and be your best!
